ABOUT

Farda (Tomorrow) Association (FTA) presents the first Ghan International Film Festival in Australia.

First Ghan International Film Festival Australia (GIFFA)

GIFFA will present a festival of original and ambitious short films plus one long feature film of high artistic value.

The primary aim of FTA is to support the underprivileged or homeless young children in Afghanistan, and in particular, the children caught up in this situation. FARDA works to provide education, food, and shelter for the street children and to alleviate the suffering of their destitute parents.

These children are especially prone physical and sexual abuse. We believe that our communities, people here and the general public would be willing to participate in the festival and contribute to making a real difference in the lives of these children.

GIFFA also aims to bring together people from mainstream and culturally and linguistically diverse [CALD] backgrounds to explore and address the current problems facing marginalised children and youth in Afghanistan and around the world.

GIFFA will be held from 09 to 10 December 2016 in Adelaide, South Australia.

A JOURNEY INTO ZERO SPACE

By Dawood Hilmandi
.

.

Duration: 22 minutes CLICK FOR MORE

A short film by BlueBermuda Hilmandi Productions (2016).

Directed and produced by Dawood Hilmandi.

What and where is home? An introspective quest alongside the maker’s most personal thoughts, memories and travels, A Journey Into Zero Space offers an autobiographical perspective on immigration and displacement. Through the playful use of montage it envisions family as a microcosm of social and political behaviours and draws the viewer into a process of reflection and imagination. Playfullness as an active practice of questioning authority.

This trilogy film includes three chapters.

A Journey Into Zero Space introduces the maker as the narrating voice‑over that guides the viewer through different spaces, times, life fragments. This first chapter questions the (self‑) identity and with it the process of filmmaking.

Chapter 2 Dear Bob Dear Baba parallels two figures of noticeable dominance, the maker’s father and well‑known theatre maker Robert Wilson. It tries to re‑establish the lost connection between father and son while deconstructing the notions of evil and victim.

Untitled is the third and last chapter of the film. It shows a day in the life of an Afghan immigrant family in the Netherlands while being confronted with the traumatic events in their homeland.
